The eruption has entered what the geologists state is a “stable” phase, in that it is still going but the lava is not a threat to the town of Grindavik nor any infrastructure. The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management has reduced the threat level due to the eruption from red to amber and reduced the area for which it applies.

As stated before, this eruption as it is currently will not affect the running of EcoRally Iceland 2024.
