According to Icelandic traffic law driving unduly slowly in traffic may be considered an offence. Using your hazard lights when driving unduly slowly does not make it a lesser offence.

Also we must enforce the legal requirement of lights being used at all times, both front and rear.

We must be sure that our reputation and the reputation of our sport will not be tarnished by the way we drive and implent the traffic law.  Please bear this in mind for the remainder of the competition.

I would like to emphasise that the actions of everyone are most important in our battle against Covid-19, even more important than the actions of the authorities.  Everyone is responsible, everyone must take note!

  1. On the eRally website a special page is denoted for Covid-19.  Please refer to it for information.  On it are links to government pages which hold the definitive version of all Covid-19 related decisions made by the government.
  2. Practical points to remember:
    1. we are all in this together and simple rules are the best;
    2. keep a 2m distance between you and others you do not know;
    3. wash your hands frequently with soap and dry properly;
    4. use hand sanitiser whenever possible;
    5. do not shake hands or hug – a bow or touching elbows is acceptable;
    6. use gloves when requested to do so by stores or restaurants;
    7. when you cannot keep a 2m distance between you and others wear a mask;
    8. crews who are not related or are not with members of their regular social group must wear a mask when in the car;
    9. mask use is not mandatory, but if you are in doubt put it up;
    10. usually the maximum time you should wear the same mask is 4 hours;
    11. a moist / wet mask is USELESS – so get a new one;
    12. the maximum number of people that may assemble in any one place is 100;
    13. if you do not feel comfortable in your surroundings move to a different place.
  3. All documents, roadbook, car identification, timecards etc, will be handed to you by gloved officials.

With this bulletin, I wish us all a safe and healthy eRally Iceland 2020.

If you experience any symptoms of Covid-19 while racing please contact the Medical Officer (Elsa Kristin Sigurdardottir) phone +354 698 6982 or contact the health care services directly by calling: 1700

The organizers have put together an information page for competitors on COVID19 preparations and restrictions in Iceland. The webpage, http://erally.is/covid19, is intended as a quick guide as seen from the organizers point of view, but does not constitute the view of the Icelandic government. The latest formal information from the government of Iceland is to be found at this government website.
